Willie Nelson Debuts New Tune ‘Vote ‘Em Out’ At Texas Concert In Support Of Dem. Beto O’Rourke
The legendary Country crooner Willie Nelson isn’t afraid to get political and believes that everyone is entitled to their own opinions – even if it ruffles a few Republican feathers! During a free concert in support of Dem. Texas Senate candidate Beto O’Rourke, in which Nelson headlined, he also debuted his new song, “Vote ‘Em Out.”
The free concert took place at Austin’s Auditorium Shores with a crowd estimated to be close to 60,000 people. Before Nelson belted out his call for change, he said: “Here’s a new song we’re going to spring on y’all tonight. Take it home with you, spread it around.” Then the carefree sing-along went like this: “If you don’t like who’s in there, vote ’em out / that’s what Election Day is all about / and the biggest gun we got/is called the ballot box / if you don’t like who’s in there / vote ’em out.”
It was a family affair for Nelson, who donned a “Beto for Senate” T-shirt and his signature red bandanna. His supportive, fellow musician-sons were on backup, including Lukas on guitar and Micah on drums. O’Rourke made a cameo, addressed the crowd and joined Nelson onstage to sing along to “On the Road Again.” This November, the Democratic candidate will challenge Republican incumbent Ted Cruz at the polls.
