When Andrea Bocelli Was A No-Show, This 17-Year-Old Stepped Up To Rehearse With Celine Dion
Talking about taking chances. Celine Dion took a chance on a talented kid singer when he was just 17 years old. David Foster called Josh Groban and said he needed to stand in for an upcoming Grammy Awards performance. Josh filled in for world-famous opera singer Andrea Bocelli who was scheduled to perform “The Prayer” with Celine Dion.
Josh knew this could be the big break he was looking for. He almost didn’t show up to the rehearsal because he was so “nervous” that it was stressing him out, according to Celine Dion. David told him that this is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity that he shouldn’t give up on.
During a live televised concert on CBS, Celine said she could sense how “nervous” Josh was during rehearsal. As Josh performed, all his nerves melted away, and Celine was in awe of his voice. She knew she wanted to relive that performance of “The Prayer” once again on national TV. The two artists also performed the songs “My Heart Will Go On,” “Because You Loved Me,” and “Taking Chances.”
