Watch Nicole Scherzinger Perform Pitch-Perfect Rendition Of The ‘Phantom Of The Opera’ Tune
Former Pussycat Dolls singer and dancer Nicole Scherzinger shocked the audience at a Royal Variety Performance of the classic Andrew Lloyd Webber play with a pitch-perfect rendition of a classic “Phantom of the Opera” tune. The pop singer embodied the role of protagonist Christine Daaé, the Phantom Erik’s great love.
Scherzinger, alongside “Phantom’s” Simon Bowman, Earl Carpenter, Ramin Karimloo and John Owen-Jones, played the role in 2011 for the Royal Variety Performance. In attendance was The Princess Royal, Anne. This unique twist on the song was in honor of “Phantom’s” 25th Anniversary. The show was produced by Andrew Lloyd Webber.
Scherzinger took to the stage in a lace dress and in a departure from her days as a scantily-clad pop singer, belted out the haunting tune with grace and force. “Phantom” was named the longest-running Broadway show back in 2009 and has since debuted over 9,000 performances over 22 years.
