Glen Campbell was not only an iconic singer and songwriter; he was a driving force and inspiration to many of today’s music superstars, such as Keith Urban. The Aussie country music star lived out his dream in 2009 when his professional idol Campbell joined him onstage in Las Vegas.

Before Campbell was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease, he joined Urban onstage during the singer’s tour and together, performed the Jimmy Webb classic “Wichita Lineman” at the Mandalay Bay Event Center. Campbell took that moment to recall the first time he met Urban as well, telling him to “learn his trade.”

“What a powerful artistic and personal journey Glen Campbell’s passage has been. As a role model, singing guitar player he was a big influence on me,” Urban said of Campbell. “His blend of genres created his own sound and style and his ability to entertain wasn’t limited to the stage.”
