Watch ‘Dueling Banjos’ Done Right By ‘Laurel and Hardy’ In Their Banjo Battle!
You want to have a duel? Well grab your banjo and let’s play! The famous 1955 instrumental composition, “Dueling Banjos” by Arthur “Guitar Boogie” Smith is really a blast if you know how to master a banjo. Initially called “Feudin’ Banjos” by Smith, the incredibly fast-paced banjo instrumental also contains riffs from “Yankee Doodle.”
When the intricate tune was recorded Smith played a four-string plectrum banjo and was joined by five-string bluegrass banjo player, Don Reno. Check out the “Dueling Banjos” performed by Bob Anthonioz, who is dressed up like Oliver Hardy on the guitar and Philippe Bourgeois, who is dressed up as Stan Laurel on the banjo. Their talent makes the audience rise to their feet!
