Violinist With Prosethic Arm Playing Beautiful Masterpiece Proves Anything’s Possible
We’re human and we all have those moments where we feel defeated and are hard on ourselves and/or blame outside factors for not achieving our goals and desires. Yet there is one incredible human out there, who against all odds, proved that anything possible if you put your mind, heart and soul into it.
Meet Manami Ito, the first nurse in Japan with a prosthetic arm, a violinist, and a Paralympian swimmer. Basically, an extraordinary triple threat! Back in November 2004, she was in a car accident, in which she lost her right arm. At the time, she was studying to become a nurse, but sadly her injury derailed her plans.
Yet when Manami received a prosthetic arm, the world as she knew it completely changed – for the better. She regained her strength and realized that she could play basketball well. With this physical boost came a mental boost and that’s when she returned back to school and dove into the pool! She later came in fourth place in the 100m Breaststroke at the 2008 Beijing Paralympics and eighth at the 2012 London Paralympics. Truly incredible!
