Kobe Bryant and Gianna Bryant may be gone, but their memories will live forever in Vanessa Bryant’s life. The heartbroken wife and mother shared sweet memories of her husband and 13-year-old daughter during their star-studded public memorial held at the Staples Center. Her speech received a standing ovation and left no dry eye in the arena.
“First I’d like to thank everyone for coming today,” she started the emotional eulogy. “The outpouring of love and support that my family has felt from around the world has been so uplifting. Thank you so much for all your prayers. I’d like to talk about both Kobe and Gigi. I’ll start with my baby girl Gianna Bryant, an amazingly sweet and gentle soul.”
“She was always thoughtful,” Vanessa said. “She always kissed me good night and kissed me good morning. There were a few occasions where I was absolutely tired from being up with Bianka and Capri and thought she had left for school without saying goodbye. I’d text and say, ‘No kiss?’ and Gianna would reply, ‘Mama, you were asleep and I didn’t want to wake you.’ She knew how much her kiss meant to me and kissed me every day.”
The heartbroken mother continued the tribute for her ‘baby girl’ Gianna and her ‘soulmate’ Kobe in front of the 20,000 mourners who flocked the Staples Center in downtown Los Angeles to their farewells to Kobe and Gianna Bryant. It was a true celebration of life in honor of the basketball legend and his 13-year-old daughter who were killed among seven others in a helicopter crash in Calabasas, California, on January 26.
