There are so many things that could go wrong during a live performance but the grand piano breaking just before the show has to be every pianist’s worse nightmare. When Brazilian pianist Eliane Rodrigues was about to start her concert to play Chopin and Piazzolla at De Doelen in Rotterdam, she felt something wasn’t exactly right.
One of the pedals was sticking and breaking the flow, so the backstage crew decided to replace the grand piano. Instead of just watching the process, Eliane decided to show that classical musicians have a great sense of humour too when coping with something unexpected during a live performance.
She entertained the audience and kept them engaged as the staff continued to move and replace the piano. She played the role up to the point when the piano was wheeled and lowered below the stage, continuing to perform just a like a true artist. Thank you for the laughs, Eliane.
