The highly-anticipated first trailer for the upcoming Elton John biopic, “Rocketman” is here and fans are being transported back in time when Elton John was super-flashy, dramatic, colorful and flamboyant as ever! (Boy, don’t we wish he’d bring some of that major flair back!) The film is set during the inception of the legend’s career at Royal Academy of Music and then onto his rise to superstardom.
“Kingman” actor Taron Egerton plays John and bravely uses his own vocal chops in the film. For the trailer, you can hear him sing, “Rocket Man” with all of his might! There is a powerful voiceover by Richard Madden, who co-stars as John’s manager and partner John Reid: “There are moments in a rock star’s life that define who he is. Where there was darkness there is now you, and it’s going to be a wild ride.”
Watch the one-minute trailer, which highlights John’s attention-grabbing costumes as well as Egerton’s dedication to his iconic role portrayal. The trailer ends with a title card that points out that the film is “based on a true fantasy.” “Rocketman” will be released next May, and also stars Jamie Bell as lyricist Bernie Taupin and Bryce Dallas Howard as the singer’s mother Sheila Eileen. Dexter Fletcher (who recently stepped in to take over for Bryan Singer on the Queen biopic, “Bohemian Rhapsody”) is at the helm of “Rocketman” and John is producing it.
