If you’re not envious of “Late, Late Show” host James Corden, then you will be now. The lucky Brit had the opportunity of a lifetime to literally take a drive down memory lane with the legendary Sir Paul McCartney during his “Carpool Karaoke” segment in Liverpool, England! The beloved singer/musician, former Beatle, and icon brought Corden to tears not only with his presence and singing but with his candid conversations about the origins of some of the greatest songs in music history – including “Let It Be.”
Both Corden and McCartney, 76, drove the car as they sang classic tunes, such as “Penny Lane,” “Blackbird” and “Drive My Car” “how appropriate! McCartney also shared a new hit, “Come On to Me,” from his forthcoming album “Egypt Station.” McCartney, one of the best singer-songwriters of our time, also shared a few verses of the first song he’s ever written at age 14.
The duo stopped by the real Penny Lane, a local barbershop, the house McCartney grew up in and wrote songs with John Lennon, and a pub where McCartney gave an epic surprise performance. Watch the most emotional “Carpool Karaoke” as of yet unfold.
