Dog Nails Free Style Dance At ‘Dog Dancing World Championship’ And His Moves Are Smooth!
“Let’s dance. Put on your red shoes and let’s dance the blues.” Well David Bowie had it right back in 1983, but it’s now 2018 and dancing isn’t only for humans, but for dogs too! With the Dog Dance World Championships underway, one dog’s super-impressive professional dance routine with his owner is going viral! (Now, Bowie’s hit song could be rephrased to “Let’s dance. Put out your paws and let’s drop some jaws.”)
Meet Larry the border collie and his dedicated owner, Lubov Eibogina. The dynamic, dancing doggie duo nailed this year’s FCI Dog Dance World Championships in Drenthe, a province in the northern part of The Netherlands – and you’ll soon see why! Their epic routine was a stellar trifecta of “one part obedience training, one part dance, and one part theatrics.”
Thanks to obedience trainer Mary Ray, who introduced “heelwork to music” back in the 1990’s at Crufts, a famous annual dog show, the activity reportedly evolved into a sport with two divisions. They include: “heelwork to music, where handlers have to work with their dogs in heel for two-thirds of the routine, and freestyle, where most of the routine is less formal.” Watch Larry and Lubov’s magical dance routine unfold!
