The public memorial for Kobe Bryant and his 13-year-old daughter, Gianna Bryant was held at the Staples Center in downtown Los Angeles on Monday. The star-studded tributes to the basketball legend came from Kobe’s beloved wife, Michael Jordan, Shaquille O’Neal, Beyonce, Alicia Keys, Jimmy Kimmel, Christina Aguilera and attended by countless A-list celebrities and 20,000 other mourners.
Grammy-winning songstress, Christina Aguilera paid her emotional tribute to the late Lakers star and his daughter by singing a moving version of “Ave Maria.” Dressed in all-back the superstar belted out the emotional rendition of the song in her powerful voice, bringing the entire arena of mourners to tears.
Kobe’s wife Vanessa also took to the mic with a powerful speech that will resonate with us, forever. “We really had an amazing love story. We loved each other with our whole beings, two perfectly imperfect people making a beautiful family and raising our sweet and amazing girls,” Vanessa said in her moving, tear-filled speech.
Christina Aguilera performance, as well as the tributes by the other stars, was a true celebration of life in honor of the basketball legend and his 13-year-old daughter who were killed among seven others in a helicopter crash in Calabasas, California, on January 26.
