Cher To Drop ‘Dancing Queen’ Album & Put Her Iconic Spin On ABBA Covers This September!
Cher continues to share her gifts with the universe in her extraordinary, kind-diva way. Now, she’s making her fans’ dreams come true by colliding her world of music with ABBA’s by releasing “Dancing Queen,” a new album of ABBA covers, on Sept. 28.
The 72-year-old Oscar, Emmy, Grammy and Golden Globe Award-winning singer and actress, revealed that her inspiration to record the album came from her once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to be a part of the beloved “Mamma Mia!” sequel. Cher is being praised for her “scene-stealing performance” in Universal Pictures’ recently-released hit film,”Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again.”
Cher has always loved ABBA’s music and has seen the original “Mamma Mia!” musical on Broadway – three times! Cher was hooked again on ABBA’s music after filming “Fernando” with co-star Andy García. She also pointed out that after filming the highly-anticipated sequel, that she was reminded again of ABBA’s “timeless songs.” “The songs were harder to sing than I imagined but I’m so happy with how the music came out,” the icon told E! News in a statement. “I’m really excited for people to hear it. It’s a perfect time.” The statuesque legend is also a co-producer of Broadway’s “The Cher Show,” opening on Dec. 3, 2018.
