Carrie Underwood Performs ‘Softly and Tenderly’ At CMAs And It Will Make You So Emotional

Carrie Underwood took the stage at the 51st Annual Country Music Association Awards on Wednesday night (Nov. 8). She broke down crying when she sang the Christian hymn “Softly and Tenderly” as the show’s regular “In Memoriam” tribute video played in the background. The “In Memoriam” tribute paid homage to the legendary performers who received tributes at CMA Awards past.

Underwood looked very much like a star on stage. She stepped out in a white billowing gown that featured embellished flowers and long sheer sleeves. Underwood nearly broke down crying when the images of the victims of the Route 61 shooting appeared on the screen behind her. She remained a trooper during her performance.

She didn’t stop performing, not once. She continued singing throughout the powerful song, even though it was tough for her to sing. Only Underwood could convey such power and emotion through her songs. It’s no wonder why she’s one of the greatest country acts to this day. Check out Carrie Underwood’s beautiful performance in the video below.
