Beyoncé Presents The Muhammad Ali Legacy Award To Colin Kaepernick
Superstar Beyonce made a surprise appearance and presented Colin Kaepernick with Sports Illustrated’s Muhammad Ali Legacy Award on Tuesday night (Dec. 5). She reportedly said she was “proud and humbled” to present Kaepernick with the award. Even last year’s Ali Award winner, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, said Kaepernick was a “worthy recipient” during a special video tribute. Kaepernick knelt on one knee during the national anthem last year to protest racial inequality and police brutality in the country.

It launched a protest across the NFL in which players knelt during the anthem that’s been criticized by many political figures, including President Donald Trump. Since Kaepernick left the San Francisco 49ers in March, he hasn’t been signed on by another team. On Tuesday evening, Kaepernick says he will continue to fight for social injustice, saying Ali “mentored me without ever meeting me.”
