Despite 3 feet of snow landing in the city from snowstorm Nemo, day 3 of New York Fashion week continued in style and boy was it an exciting one for all our favourite designers!
Prabal Gurung set his collection down the runway with a military theme running throughout. We saw feminine looks with bold peplums, sexy harnesses and a finale of asymmetrical evening gowns with thigh-high boots. Gurung said the word that summed up the collection is “empowerment,” which he defined in his own way.
Hervé Léger by Max Azria’s Fall 2013 collection saw a mix of sexy and sporty styles, leaving no curve behind. Body con dresses with printed leggings peaking out underneath added an exciting twist to the collection. The baseball cap made a prominent return, but this time in a chic fashion and not for practicality!
Lacoste and ‘The Arctic Icon’ launched an expedition of outerwear on the front. Long boxy coats with the classic polo shirt underneath kept the tradition alive in a new and exciting form. Pops of colour and neon accessories bought the collection a change in pace, now where can we get our selves one?!
Alexander Wang sent his 50 shades of grey clad models down the runway yesterday, keeping true to his sporty style. This was his final standalone show before his Balenciaga debut at Paris Fashion Week next month, and you could tell. Taking a risk on his last show, the designer added new elements to his typical designs, with an emphasis on silhouette and keeping colour to a minimum he certainly went out with a bang!
Monique Lhuillier is a celebs favourite when it comes to red carpet gowns, and boy did she deliver yesterday. The designer sent down the catwalk a number of luxurious dresses, as well as dramatic outerwear with fierce neck detailing. The colours are rich, with a constant sense of luxury and pure opulence throughout the collection.
Which was your have on day 3?! Check back tomorrow for a round up of day 4… including Victoria Beckham!
