Lindsay Lohan will play Elizabeth Taylor in the upcoming television biopic Liz & Dick.
Liz & Dick will be based on Taylor‘s love affair with actor Richard Burton, who the actress married and divorced twice after they met on the set of Cleopatra.
American channel, Lifetime announced the news with executive vice president of programming Rob Sharenow saying, “We are thrilled Lindsay will portray beloved Hollywood legend Elizabeth Taylor. She is one of the rare actresses who possesses the talent, beauty and intrigue to capture the spirit of such a provocative icon.”
In January, Lohan, expressed her joy at the prospect of portraying Taylor on the small screen, ”I have always admired and had enormous respect for Elizabeth Taylor,” she said in a statement. “She was not only an incredible actress but an amazing woman as well. I am very honoured to have been asked to play this role.”
The production on the biopic is set to begin in June in Los Angeles.
